Reading Doesn’t Have to be Work

If you struggle with reading, then just read whatever you like. Read whatever interests you. I started by reading Harry Potter repeatedly.

The more you read what you enjoy, the more you start to enjoy reading itself. And then you can start reading more “useful” things or more “productive” things.

These days I never read something that I’m not going to enjoy, because if I start reading it and I don’t enjoy it, I close the book and move on to something else. There is a world of books out there, and a problem with reading is that we consider it “work”.

We’re like, “Oh, I guess I should probably read Sapiens because everyone’s going on about it.” I haven’t read Sapiens, it doesn’t appeal to me right now. Maybe I’ll read it at some point. I’d much rather read some random paranormal romance book about a werewolf who can transform into a bird falling in love with an attractive girl with psychic powers.

That is the jam that I love reading! And then, occasionally, I’ll read some productivity book and make take some notes out of the concepts in it.

Start with reading whatever takes your fancy, whether it’s anime or whether it’s romance, whether it’s adventure, whether it’s Harry Potter on…
